I breakdown interesting plays - schematically, technically, and from and execution standpoint - from the 2021 Ohio State at Michigan football game.
Just the film this week, but as always, you can find links to previous films reviews for overall summaries of each team provided the tags for each post. Each team has a tag.

First play of the second half OSU vs UM. OSU goes rare IZ from pistol. UM shows two high but rotates to C3 Buzz. Decent gain pic.twitter.com/sRSbSy4tQV

This should be a big gain for OSU. Play is there is the RT stays patient. Doesn’t hammer down on the DE, and DE is able to get inside the TE chest, shove him back to close outside path, then shed to make the tackle pic.twitter.com/wAzA5k1ylQ

3rd and short, TFL. Great job on the double team by the NT, LB shoots the gap and gets a TFL pic.twitter.com/3L7CyBOZ8P

Michigan running their sweep to the field. Nice use of blocking out of the tight bunch to crack and arc around. RB one on one vs CB in space is a win pic.twitter.com/qOxpe7GKMd

RPO takes 4 defenders with only two receivers, and then look how well this is blocked front side.
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 13, 2022
C reaches, gets leverage, and boxes out the NT. LG does well to climb and knock LB off balance. LT strong backside hand throws DE outside. Off we go pic.twitter.com/YCRuTwyz0q
When things are both beautiful and disgusting.

This front side block is great! This defense is… umm… less great pic.twitter.com/WxapcwH38D
Knife Concept from OSU. One of the great YAC concepts in my option. Can tag it to RPO. Ball in the middle of the field running away from the D pic.twitter.com/jCGyqLm5xH

Small things in the run game not being executed leaves a lot of yards on the field pic.twitter.com/FH6lUjCZPo

Michigan goes 5 down. I don’t like protecting with the C to a 2nd level LB and leaving the RB for a mugged RB. I see why they do it, but I don’t like it. Great coverage by UM and pocket collapses with C blocking no one pic.twitter.com/YvFKVHEPIE

I love the INK block by the way. Shows pass to DE and gets him set up. Gets you big on big. Gives you a chance to really split the D and even blocked to the safety
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 13, 2022
Swing throw here is just a run. This is the same play as the sweep with pass pro eye candy to hold the backside of the D.

Condense the formation to attack space pic.twitter.com/VhD2WJKk4Z
Awesome flea flicker play design off the short motion, pull the Center, wheel the short motion player pic.twitter.com/lOkylwirbn

Truck or T Lead. Two pin down blockers and two pullers. Straight out the old Harbaugh playbook pic.twitter.com/8OLw8P6BGR

Like the use of presnap motion here. Day is really good about this stuff, helping give the QB a clear picture presnap pic.twitter.com/JRNMeHEy4u

Chance for a big play with a stack alignment vs Cover 2. Michigan busts, but pocket collapses and QB dumps off pic.twitter.com/SjRP477ljL
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 17, 2022
Michigan showing single high with late rotation into Cover 2. Trying to take away the slots on 3rd and medium. Get what they want vs the option route, but someone busts coverage pic.twitter.com/13FxfkUmZA

Was asked about how Michigan used 3 safeties this year. Here’s a fairly unique changeup for them, as they show single high and end in Tampa 2 with 3rd safety running the hole.

Good coverage, but great catch gets OSU the 1st Down pic.twitter.com/dagC9rPJit
This is an interesting rotation here as Michigan gets 4 DBs over trips by spiking the CB back to safety depth on the motion.

Snag from OSU nets 5 yards, but UM doesn’t fear the TE pic.twitter.com/IT8MtPQbmf
Blitzing both safeties!!! pic.twitter.com/BEvT31QS9W

Michigan shows the same look on 4th down back backs out to Poach. Really nice use of formation and route technique to get open on the inside slant pic.twitter.com/81xUBDoYJJ

Insert Zone from Michigan. Good example of how one of the more promising OSU LBs was still getting a feel at the position, insert changes gaps post snap and he takes himself out.

Great job by the H hitting color in the hole on his way to the second level pic.twitter.com/3R3Bzqlkl6
Fans have been wanting Michigan to turn the knob more to the pass in the RPO game. Here’s an example where the run is blocked up and why Michigan typically had the knob turned to where they did pic.twitter.com/ET17qxUV9M

You want to be a good running team you need WRs willing to make this block. Springs a near explosive because he steps in and stands up the LB pic.twitter.com/BFXX3IVVsb
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 20, 2022
Little thing but worth pointing out. Michigan just running their standard insert. But inside the 5, game speeds up, LBs faster downhill, so motion the H in to give him a better chance to make that Iso block pic.twitter.com/ifXdxjnoXY

Nice design and set up for OSU, but just some guys making plays for Michigan pic.twitter.com/wAEZDEcrej
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 20, 2022
They ran 11 plays, including three third downs and two 4th downs after this play. They did end up with a TD, but that's a huge difference in a game like this.

Unique look from Michigan. Cover 0 with a rat. Taking away the slot. QB confident he wants to go weakside, steps up, makes the throw while pressure collapses the pocket around him pic.twitter.com/Pe2IKNpPoT

OSU trying to get the X/Y vertical here off of Dragon action. Michigan brackets both seams and caps the rail/wheel routes pic.twitter.com/DkQWFV2EC3

Long-time WCO Staple. Gruden specifically has loved it pic.twitter.com/VTpfWSnJOE

Last play UM vs OSU
— Space Coyote (@SpaceCoyoteBDS) May 27, 2022
I’ve highlighted this in passing, but one of the great aspects of UM OL this year was their patience. They understood the D fronts and when to be patient
Get a 2 look, LT stays square, fits outside hand under armpit, inside hand low, throws DE inside pic.twitter.com/EIvMCVPwYF
